Wayfaring Stranger!

One of my favorite songs and a new wonderful rendition, listen if you have time. I've always thought the term 'wayfaring stranger' portrays a believer sojourning in this world very well. A stranger can be one who is in an unfamiliar place and doesn't belong and we can relate to that as this world is truly not our home.

Isa 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.

Christ is the highway, the way and every true believer walks this way. It is the way of holiness, not our holiness (as some would have it) but His holiness which is imputed to us as He is our sanctification. The unclean shall not walk this way and although we are unclean by nature in Christ we are undefiled. (Rev 21:27  And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.)

Oh how we were fools before we knew Christ in the truth of His gospel. We erred in our thoughts about God, Christ and salvation and were on the broad road but those who are now in Christ do not err on the way of salvation for we have been taught of God. Oh how comforting that is.

While here, as the song says, our pathway can be rough and steep and many dark clouds hover over us. But we must remember that we are only traveling through and when we go home to see our Father and our Savior we will roam no more.

Rev 21:4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Grace and Peace!
