Psalm 131!

“A Song of degrees of David, LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. 2) Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. 3) Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and forever.

David was a man after God’s own heart we are told in scripture, I wonder if he knew that. I found this Psalm in my reading and it brought comfort! I don’t know if it has the intent in scripture that it had for me, nevertheless I was comforted.

I discovered, by His providential Hand, the joy of growing in Grace and in knowledge, or as a saint that I know and love has put it…..’growing in the knowledge of Grace’ and that actually just happened to me about 3 years ago. It has been truly like a brand new world of faith and perhaps it really is. God didn’t use some’ mystical means’ to bring me this great joy but the Truth of His Word applied to my heart by His Spirit. So as this new world opens up to me continually I have this great desire to know these joyful truths, and yet I know that there are
"things too high for me."

Don’t you find it like a journey, this growing in Grace and in knowledge? Sometimes the journey is fast and thrilling each moment, sometimes journeys are slow and steady or still for a time of rest. Along the way we find curves, hills of great height and low valleys. We don’t all take the same journey either because He has a journey for each of us according to the measure of faith that we have been given. I hope to not forget that the Lord is the one who directs our steps, not only ours but of others as well and we praise Him for those steps, as we praise Him for all things.

I can be simple and quiet in my love for Christ and His Gospel, knowing and trusting Him to teach me all He wants me to know and my hope is in the Lord from henceforth and forever.
